Kansas City has a history that is over 150 years old. In March of 1853, City of Kansas was incorporated by the State of Missouri. The first Mayor, William S. Gregory was elected with only 36 votes, 9 more than Dr. Benoist Troost with 27 votes for a total of 63 votes.
